2012: 30 golfers, 2013: 54 golfers, 2014: 66 golfers. With more than double the golfers of two years ago, the two ball best ball format of the Lamb, Hunter and Pitzel tournament is clearly paying off. Combine the new format with the beautiful September weather and the sponsor’s 50th birthday and the success of the tournament is undeniable
On Saturday, September 6, 33 teams played 18 holes of qualifying golf. Their scores after day one determined which flight each team would be placed in. There were five flights, Championship through 4th flight. Either 6 or 7 teams were placed in each flight and no more than 5 shots separated any of the teams in a flight. After supper, Harold Wasylenka played auctioneer as 10 teams were sold in the Calcutta. Through the Calcutta, approximately $500 was raised for the club and $2000 would be paid out.
On Sunday, September 7, teams went out again competing against the teams in their flight to try to move up in placement. After another 18 holes, there was a tie for 1st between the team of Riley Storzuk/Chad Onyskevitch and the team of Steve Zulak/Meryl Swinburnson. Riley and Chad had entered the day in a three way tie for first after shooting 68 on Saturday and shot 70 on Sunday. Steve and Meryl had entered the day in fourth after carding a first round 69 on Saturday and shot 69 on Sunday. After one playoff hole, Steve Zulak and Meryl Swinburnson were declared the winners.

With fall inching closer and closer, the end of the golf season is also nearing. The last event at the golf course will be on Saturday, September 27th. This is a fun Ryder Cup style round that will start at 10:00am. For more information contact the clubhouse at 306-554-2154.
